Our National Commander & National President, Frank & Bonnie Kowalski, have made a pledge to keep the membership informed of their activities and important happenings at the National level. NATIONAL COMMANDER AND NATIONAL PRESIDENT UPDATE
NOVEMBER 2017
We are giving everyone an update on the happenings at the National level.
Our board meeting was held from Nov. 8 – 10, 2017 at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Alexandria, Va. Topics included and discussed were:
1.) The proposed move of the Headquarters to Kansas City, MO was defeated. The Headquarters will remain in Bellerose, NY temporarily.
2.) Uniform change was discussed and approved. Attendance at meetings will be casual. The National Officers will wear navy blue polo shirts, with or without pocket, with tan or khaki trousers. The shirt will have a collar and have a Catholic War Veteran emblem on the front of the shirt. State Department, County Chapters and local Posts can choose their own color of shirt, with the Catholic War Veteran emblem. You may also include Post name, state, Office held, etc. The Catholic War Veteran Dress uniform will still be worn at formal or occasions, special functions, or when representing the organization. The polo shirts are available in many colors from the National store at http://cwv-store.org.
3.) The Auxiliary discussed paying the Department Presidents mileage for the meetings. This is currently being researched and will be brought up at the February meeting.
4.) The scholarship application for the Auxiliary is currently being revised and will be brought up at the February meeting for approval.
5.) Mr. Rick Kenney has been hired full time. He will be in the office from Monday to Friday.

We represented our organization at the Veteran’s Day Ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Also we attended a mass followed by the 9th annual benefit dinner for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, DC.
The next National Board Meeting will be held Feb. 22 – 24, 2018 at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Alexandria, Va. The reservation deadline is Feb. 1, 2018. Telephone: 703-329-1400.
